HOW TO TAKE CUTE PHOTOS + how I edit my instagram

The majority of my comments & DM's on all my socials are about my editing style. I feel like over the past year I have really found my style when it comes to taking photos, editing, and filming videos. In this post, I'm going to share some of my special tips for taking a cute photo + how I edit.

TAKING PHOTOS

First off taking insta photos in public can be quite intimidating. People are usually staring or there is always someone in the background, but after doing this for a while I am now totally used to it.

I make sure I do 2 important steps that make my photos turn out cohesive. First I put together a cute outfit, and second I make sure my editing is the same. I don't really focus on location as much because the way I edit usually makes any background stand out.

TIP 1: It's All About Confidence.

Don't be scared of what others think of you, or if people are judging you. Just be yourself when looking at the camera and relax. Have a good time and be confident and express your personality.

TIP 2: Cute Outfits Are Always A Good Idea

When taking photos I don't really focus on the location as much, but instead, I put more time into my outfit. Here are some of my fav outfits I took photos in.

TIP 3: Know Your Camera Angle

Some people like the camera angle higher angle and some like lower. Learn the angles with your camera it makes a difference.  Personally I am literally 5’2ft and I like my angles lower so it doesn't look overpowering and I like the look it gives. Play around with angles and see what's more your style.

TIP 4: Camera Gear

You don't need the most expensive camera to take awesome photos. Yes, when I first started Instagram I did use an expensive camera, but then I found it to be intimidating to relax in front of it and be myself. So then I just switched to my phone (google pixel 2) which almost has the same quality as my camera. For starting out I would just use your phone.

TIP 5: Relax and Have Fun

When I first started out I was so stressed and wanted each pic to be perfect. If it wasn't I got really frustrated. This whole process really ruined the whole idea of taking photos which is suppose to be fun. Now when I take photos I'm much more chill and understand that nothing in life is perfect. I usually spend 5-15 min of an outfit pic, but a year ago it would be 30 mins. Just remember to enjoy and have fun and you’ll create a great photo.

STEP 1: Software

When starting off I wouldn't recommend spending money on big softwares for editing. I would just use mobile apps like VSCO or Snap Seed. I used to use that software and they worked perfectly fine.

Now I use Lightroom, which I'm literally obsessed with.

STEP 2: Filters

I use some parts of this preset from http://www.stilettobeats.com and I use the preset in Joshua tree. I change up a lot of the attributes from the filter.

I usually play around with the color, but I use the preset as a base.

STEP 3: Effects

If you look at my photos you will notice a little grain effect. I get that effect when using the app Picfx.
